On September 5, Italian functionalwear brand Stone Island, under Italian luxury group Moncler, officially unveiled its new flagship store at Intime in77 in Hangzhou’s lakeside district, accompanied by a grand opening event attended by Luxe.CO.

Robert Triefus (pictured left), Global CEO of the brand, and Ethan Juan (Ruan Jingtian) (pictured right), Global Community Ambassador, attended the event to celebrate this important milestone with the Stone Island community and experience the brand’s spirit of research and experimentation.

Continuing the global retail concept developed in collaboration with OMA/AMO, the new flagship spans three floors and covers over 370 square meters. It showcases the brand’s innovations in craftsmanship, materials, and collaborative design efforts. The retail areas, located on the first and second floors, feature the full range of Stone Island collections, including sub-lines such as Stone Island Ghost, Marina, and Stellina, reflecting the brand’s dedication to material innovation and community culture.

The Hangzhou flagship also incorporates distinctive collaborative design elements, including a ceiling-spanning lighting system created by Tim Hooijmans, minimalist electroplated aluminum display tables by Johan Viladric, a SUPERBENCH long bench designed by Markus Toll, and a custom glass display cabinet for showcasing the Stone Island archive collection, specially designed by Phil Procter.

Inside the store, a large glass display counter doubles as a laboratory workstation, offering an immersive interpretation of the brand’s “LAB & LIFE” philosophy. Robert Triefus stated, “The opening of the Hangzhou flagship marks an important milestone for us in the Chinese market. We look forward to embarking on a new chapter of Stone Island in China together with our community here.”

Stone Island has consistently been committed to environmental protection and sustainability. The Hangzhou flagship has earned LEED Gold Certification, awarded based on a building’s sustainable performance in areas such as energy efficiency, water conservation, material selection, and indoor environmental quality.
