Nike 

Recently, the American sports apparel giant Nike announced that Jason Mayden, the President of Fear of God Athletics, will be returning to Nike, where he previously worked for many years, to take up the role of Chief Design Officer for the Jordan brand. Jason Mayden also announced this news on his personal Instagram and reminisced that 23 years ago, he was one of the earliest design interns for the Jordan brand.

While assuming his new role, Jason Mayden will continue to lead Trillicon Valley, a design company he founded in 2017. Additionally, he will continue serving as a guest lecturer at the USC Iovine and Young Academy.

From 2001 to 2014, Jason Mayden held several key positions at Nike, including Senior Global Design Director for Jordan Brand, Director of Innovation and Digital Sport, and Senior Product Designer responsible for footwear, brand, and apparel innovation.

In 2016, he founded the brand Super Heroic and served as its CEO from 2016 to 2020. Super Heroic is a consumer-facing children’s apparel and footwear startup backed by the athletic shoe retail giant Foot Locker.

From 2020 to 2022, Jason Mayden was the President of Fear of God Athletics, a venture launched by streetwear brand Fear of God and German sportswear giant adidas, led by Los Angeles designer Jerry Lorenzo.

On December 1, Pierric Duthoit, a former executive at the American internet giant Meta (parent company of Facebook and Instagram), officially assumed the role of Chief Digital Officer at Coty.

Pierric Duthoit, a graduate of Saint-Cyr Military Academy and HEC Paris, has been serving as the Business Director of Meta’s French subsidiary since November 2022, overseeing retail and e-commerce. Before this, he worked at Google for seven years, including roles as Sales Director in Moscow, Sales Director for the Middle East and Africa, handling business in technology, telecommunications, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), public services, and tourism. From 2010 to 2014, he held various positions at the French dating site Meetic, including Director for France, European Marketing Director, and Director of Customer Acquisition and Paid Media.

Coty’s Chief Digital Officer position was established in November 2020, initially held by Jean-Denis Mariani, who previously served as the Digital Director for Guerlain, a perfume and cosmetics brand under the LVMH group.

Reportedly, between 2020 and 2023, Coty’s e-commerce net revenue doubled, increasing from $450 million to $900 million.

Canada Goose

On December 20, Canada Goose announced the appointment of Beth Clymer as the newly established Chief Financial, Strategy, and Administrative Officer. Starting January 8, 2024, she will work alongside Brand/Business President Carrie Baker, reporting directly to Chairman and CEO Dani Reiss.

In her new role, Beth Clymer will oversee Canada Goose’s finance, human resources, culture, corporate strategy, and legal affairs, collaborating with existing business unit leaders. Additionally, she will closely work with Jonathan Sinclair and Neil Bowden, who will assume their roles as President of Asia-Pacific and Chief Financial Officer, respectively, starting April 1.

Before joining Canada Goose, Beth Clymer served as the CFO of the American online job platform Jobcase for four years, overseeing finance, human resources, culture, corporate development, strategy, and legal affairs. Prior to that, she worked at Bain Capital for ten years as an Operating Partner, collaborating with private and public companies, including Canada Goose (from 2015 to 2019) and Burlington Stores.

Regarding the appointment, Dani Reiss said, “Beth Clymer has a long history of collaboration with Canada Goose, including before, during, and after our IPO, as a key partner at Bain Capital… She is very familiar with our brand, strategy, and team.

Recent leadership updates at Canada Goose also include: Chief Marketing and Experience Officer Penny Brook departing at the end of the year, with Carrie Baker continuing to oversee global marketing, and Daniel Binder continuing as Chief Transformation Officer leading the company’s ongoing transformation plan.

Vuori

Recently, the American functional apparel brand Vuori announced the appointment of Karen Riley-Grant as Chief Marketing Officer, effective from January 22. Karen Riley-Grant, who has over 25 years of experience in the retail industry, confirmed this news in a post on her personal LinkedIn page, expressing her honor in taking up the role.

In her new position, Karen Riley-Grant will be responsible for developing the company’s vision and strategy, as well as overseeing the creative development and execution of the brand’s marketing efforts in retail, e-commerce, wholesale, and digital domains, reporting to Vuori founder and CEO Joe Kudla.

Before joining Vuori, Karen Riley-Grant worked for the denim brand Levi Strauss & Co., most recently serving as its Chief Marketing Officer for over two years. Prior to that, she held several leadership positions at Levi Strauss & Co., including Vice President of Marketing for Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and Global Vice President of Marketing for Challenger Brands, including Dockers, Denizen, and Signature.

Previously, Karen Riley-Grant also held marketing leadership positions at Gap Inc. and Converse, overseeing marketing for Converse’s Chuck Taylor division.

Sotheby’s

On December 18, Sotheby’s announced that Kristina O’Neill would be taking on the role of Head of the newly established Sotheby’s Media Division and Editor-in-Chief of Sotheby’s Magazine, reporting to Sotheby’s Chief Marketing Officer Gareth Jones. This appointment will be effective from January 8, 2024.

Sotheby’s Media is a new global initiative, with Sotheby’s Magazine as its flagship asset, aiming to cover all-channel content, including digital, audio, and video elements. Under the leadership of Kristina O’Neill, the magazine will host its first signature event in the fall of 2024.

Regarding the appointment, Sotheby’s stated that they hope to leverage Kristina O’Neill’s experience to drive global audience growth and expand digital influence and magazine circulation. Thus, her task will be to lead Sotheby’s Magazine “into a new era as a leading lifestyle publication,” especially by increasing frequency, circulation, and readership.

Before joining Sotheby’s, Kristina O’Neill worked for several years at WSJ. Magazine, a luxury lifestyle magazine and digital platform of The Wall Street Journal, where she was Editor-in-Chief, overseeing all editorial content of the magazine. During her tenure, she launched the magazine’s current affairs newsletter column and its signature event, “the Innovators Awards.” Kristina O’Neill resigned from WSJ. Magazine in June 2023 after a decade as Editor-in-Chief.

Jacquemus

Recently, Bastien Daguzan, CEO of the Parisian designer brand Jacquemus, announced his resignation from the brand.

In May 2022, Bastien Daguzan left the French fashion brand Paco Rabanne, where he had worked for five years, to join Jacquemus. This was the first time Jacquemus had hired a general manager from outside the company; previously, the roles of creative director and CEO were held by the founder, Simon Porte Jacquemus. It is known that Bastien Daguzan had been providing consultancy services to Jacquemus and regularly attended the brand’s fashion shows while serving as the general manager of Paco Rabanne.

Simon Porte Jacquemus had previously stated that with the support of Bastien Daguzan, the Jacquemus brand had significantly accelerated its growth, doubling its revenue from 100 million euros in 2021 to over 200 million euros in 2022.

In early December, the Jacquemus brand officially announced that Bastien Daguzan would also assume the role of President from December 6, a position previously held by the brand’s founder and sole owner, Simon Porte Jacquemus. At that time, the brand stated that although the title of the position might change, “the roles of both individuals remained unchanged.” Bastien Daguzan said that this change reflected the reality of the business and was a sign of mutual trust between the two.

However, less than a month after this announcement, the two parted ways.

Regarding Bastien Daguzan’s departure, Simon Porte Jacquemus stated that (Daguzan) had always been the driving force behind the business and its leadership, “and we wish him all the best in his new endeavors.”

HanesBrands

On December 15, HanesBrands, the parent company of the American streetwear brand Champion, announced that its board of directors had appointed William S. Simon as Chairman, effective December 31, 2023. This appointment follows Ronald L. Nelson’s decision to step down as Chairman and board member at the end of the year.

William S. Simon has been serving on the HanesBrands board since 2021, previously working for the Talent and Compensation Committee and the Governance and Nominations Committee. In addition, he is an executive advisor to private equity giant KKR & Co. and President of WSS Venture Holdings LLC. Previously, William S. Simon also served as President and CEO of Walmart, possessing extensive senior leadership skills and rich experience as a director of consumer-facing public companies.

Additionally, board members Cheryl K. Beebe and Ann E. Ziegler will also retire on December 31, 2023. Last month, HanesBrands appointed three new independent directors: Colin Browne, Natasha Chand, and John Mehas.
