Personnel Updates | Louis Vuitton Women’s Leather Goods and Accessories Director Departs; Gucci CEO Joins Brioni Board of Directors

French luxury brand Louis Vuitton has announced the departure of Johnny Coca, Women’s Fashion Leather Goods and Accessories Director, after five and a half years in the role.

Johnny Coca is one of the most renowned handbag designers in the industry. He began his career at Louis Vuitton, working as a leather goods designer from 1996 to 2000. Between 2004 and 2010, he also worked for the brand Bally.

From 2010 to 2015, he served as the Chief Design Director for Leather Goods, Accessories, Footwear, and Jewelry at Celine, collaborating with then-Creative Director Phoebe Philo and helping establish Celine as a major player in the luxury handbags and accessories sector.

In 2015, Johnny Coca joined Mulberry as Creative Director, and after five years, he returned to Louis Vuitton.

Born in Seville, Spain, Johnny Coca later moved to Paris, where he studied art, architecture, and design at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts, École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris-Malaquais, and École Boulle.

Brioni

Francesca Bellettini, President and CEO of Gucci, has joined the board of directors of Brioni, the luxury menswear brand owned by French luxury conglomerate Kering.

Bellettini joined Kering in 2003 and spent her first five years primarily at Gucci, where she served in various roles including Assistant to the Chairman and Managing Director, Director of Strategic Planning, and Deputy Global Marketing Director.

From 2008 to 2013, she was Global Marketing Director and then Global Communications Director at Bottega Veneta. In September 2013, she became President and CEO of Saint Laurent, holding the position until July 2023, when she was promoted to Deputy CEO of Kering, overseeing the development of all brands.

Before joining Kering, Bellettini spent three years at Italian luxury group Prada. She holds a degree in Economics and Business Management from Bocconi University in Milan. Early in her career, she worked at several major banks and investment firms before entering the luxury industry.

Notably, Brioni’s current CEO, Federico Arrigoni, previously served as Deputy CEO and President of Asia Pacific at Saint Laurent, where he worked closely with Bellettini for many years.

Bergdorf Goodman

New York’s storied luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman has announced two significant executive promotions:

  • George Fountas has been promoted to Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Women’s Designer Ready-to-Wear, Accessories, Footwear, Beauty, and the Little BG brand.
  • Young-Su Kim has been promoted to Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Men’s, and will also serve as Men’s Fashion Director.

George Fountas has been with the company for over 12 years, most recently serving as Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Designer and Contemporary Ready-to-Wear and Little BG. Previously, he was Divisional Merchandise Manager of Designer Ready-to-Wear and Buyer for Couture. Before joining Bergdorf Goodman, he held merchandise management roles at Bloomingdale’s.

Young-Su Kim has been with the company for six years, previously serving as Vice President and Divisional Merchandise Manager of Men’s. Prior to that, he worked at Barneys New York for 12 years, holding increasingly senior merchandising roles.

Montenapoleone District

The Montenapoleone District, Italy’s renowned luxury shopping area, has confirmed that founder Guglielmo Miani has resumed his position as Chairman of the Board. The new board will serve through 2027.

The new board structure is as follows: Paola Faccioli of Cova Pasticceria will serve as Vice Chair; Pietro Ruffini, son of Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini, will serve as Chief Financial Officer. Other board members include Chiara Fiorentino, CEO of Pisa Orologeria; Giorgio Damiani, Vice President of jewelry group Damiani; Maria Cristina Buccellati, Global Communications Director of jewelry brand Buccellati; and the only new board member, Gaetano Ghisleri, an executive from Medicus, the management company of the famed Palazzo Melzi di Cusano.
