Personnel Updates | Lanvin Appoints New Artistic Director from Balenciaga; Change of CEO at Diptyque

French luxury fashion house Lanvin has appointed Peter Copping as the brand’s Artistic Director, effective from September 2024, to lead the creative design of both women’s and men’s collections.

Peter Copping, originally from the UK, is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London. Most recently, he worked at Balenciaga, overseeing the Haute Couture collections and leading the atelier in the relaunch of Haute Couture. His career began at Sonia Rykiel, followed by a role in women’s design at Louis Vuitton under Marc Jacobs. He later served as Creative Director at both Nina Ricci in Paris and Oscar de la Renta in New York.

The brand stated that Peter Copping’s extensive experience across various categories and regions will bring a unique contemporary perspective and craftsmanship to Lanvin. “In the past two years, Lanvin has redefined itself within contemporary culture through cutting-edge fashion and French sophistication, and Peter Copping’s appointment aligns with this transformation.”

Lanvin’s Deputy CEO, Siddhartha Shukla, commented, “Peter Copping’s joining marks a significant milestone in the development of Lanvin as a great French brand. Diptyque/Manzanita Capital

French fragrance brand Diptyque has appointed Laurence Semichon to succeed Fabienne Mauny as the new CEO.

In her new role, Laurence Semichon will lead Diptyque’s next growth phase while maintaining the brand’s distinctiveness, continuing to develop it into a luxury lifestyle brand. Additionally, Nicolas Floquet, who has served as COO since 2012, has been appointed as the newly created Deputy CEO to assist Laurence Semichon.

Laurence Semichon joined Diptyque in 2019 as Senior Vice President of Perfume and Beauty, later becoming the brand’s Senior Vice President in 2022. Previously, she held several perfume-related positions at Louis Vuitton and Givenchy.

Furthermore, according to arrangements by Diptyque’s parent company, the UK private equity firm Manzanita Capital, Fabienne Mauny will replace Chris Garek as Operating Partner and President of Diptyque. Chris Garek, who has served Manzanita Capital and its various beauty brands for over a decade, has announced plans to retire.

All these leadership changes will take effect on July 1. Additionally, in the UK, Diptyque’s business will continue to be led by Amanda Morgan, Managing Director for the region.

Diptyque continues to drive growth and global expansion. Last month, the brand launched the new Maisons Diptyque store concept, opening a new three-story flagship store at 107 New Bond Street in London, and another flagship store in Paris, both of which are the largest stores the brand has ever opened. Maisons Diptyque stores serve as both boutiques and cultural spaces, integrating the brand’s iconic creations with a range of artistic and cultural experiences.

Sergio Soldano

The Italian legendary fashion and beauty brand Sergio Soldano, which recently announced its entry into the fashion sector, has appointed the designer duo Premoli + Di Bella (Giovanni Premoli and Dario Di Bella) as Creative Directors.

In their new roles, they will operate out of New York and Varese, Italy, leading the style team and overseeing all product sales, communications, and brand image supervision, participating comprehensively in the brand’s growth path designed by its parent company, Desire Holding SA, for the coming years.

Premoli + Di Bella will present their first collection for the brand during the New York and Milan Fashion Weeks in January 2025: the Fall/Winter 2025/26 women’s collection.

Premoli + Di Bella, known for their abundant creativity and avant-garde designs, have their own eponymous brand and are recognized for their work across menswear, womenswear, accessories, luxury goods, and lifestyle categories, with a solid background in the global luxury fashion, textiles, and apparel industry.

This appointment of Creative Directors represents Desire Holding’s ambitious expansion plans for its new luxury division, with Sergio Soldano leading the way. The group plans to transition beyond beauty and personal care into luxury goods, fashion, and accessories. In mid-June, Desire Holding acquired Sergio Soldano through its Italian subsidiary Desire Fragrances Srl, marking its first foray into the fashion industry.

Aspinal of London

British luxury leather goods brand Aspinal of London has appointed Laura Brown as its new CEO.

Laura Brown brings extensive experience in the luxury retail industry, and her addition will introduce a strategic approach to innovative business, while also playing a crucial role in the brand’s continued growth in market influence.

Laura Brown served as Retail Director at Harrods from 2014 to 2022, and before that, she was Senior Retail Director at Bicester Village. Her latest role was as CEO of Dubai Mall.

ThredUp

American fashion resale platform ThredUp has announced the appointment of former Tapestry executive Noam Paransky to its Board of Directors.

Noam Paransky, who was previously Tapestry’s Chief Omni and Innovation Officer, will provide guidance to ThredUp as it upgrades its approach. ThredUp is actively expanding its AI capabilities to enhance the shopping experience on its platform and strengthen consumer interaction through technological advancements.

Before joining Tapestry, Paransky was Senior Vice President of Digital at Gap.
