G-Star

On April 29, Dutch fashion brand G-Star announced the appointment of designer duo Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh as its new Creative Directors. The move aims to merge G-Star’s cutting-edge denim innovation with the duo’s refined tailoring techniques and deconstructed streetwear aesthetics. This appointment marks a creative pivot and stylistic statement for G-Star, as well as a strategic step to elevate its global brand visibility. The brand has been undergoing a full-scale transformation since being acquired by brand management company WHP Global in 2023.

From 2018 to 2022, Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh served as Co-Creative Directors of Nina Ricci. They also helm their own label, Botter, which fuses influences from Amsterdam and the Caribbean. The pair are set to unveil their first G-Star “Raw Research” collection during Paris Fashion Week in January 2026.

In the official press release, Rushemy Botter stated: “I have vivid memories of G-Star from the late ’90s—the designs, the styles I wore, and the brand’s influence on denim culture. Being part of the brand’s next chapter is an exciting opportunity.”

G-Star has been rebuilding its ties with avant-garde designers, including a recent collaboration with Belgian fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck—one of the “Antwerp Six” and Botter’s early mentor. Over the past two years, G-Star has also focused on strengthening its brand foundations by reintroducing classic pieces like the Elwood jeans and military-style jackets, expanding its team, and reopening directly operated stores in core markets such as the Netherlands and France.
