On April 18, the 2024 “Luxe.CO Fashion Innovation and Investment Forum” was successfully held in Shanghai. Entrepreneurs, executives, and investors from financial and industrial investment institutions, brand startups, brand conglomerates, and internet technology giants from home and abroad gathered to share their practical experiences and insights from different perspectives. They deeply discussed how to delve into the fashion industry and truly discover and create value in the current complex and ever-changing socio-economic environment, combining their insights into the development status and prospects of the fashion industry in China and abroad.

In the final segment of the forum, Luxeplace.com invited three distinctive overseas fashion brands to share their experiences remotely via video. These are divided into three articles featuring each brand. Do check out the other articles for more details!

Études Studio from France

Études Studio was founded in Paris in 2012 by Jérémie Egry, Aurélien Arbet, and José Lamali. This cross-disciplinary creative group bridges the gap between men’s and women’s ready-to-wear while also dedicating themselves to publishing art books. From its inception, the brand has enriched its identity through cross-border collaborations, being invited to join the official schedule of Paris Fashion Week just two years after its establishment.

Aurélien Arbet, Co-founder & Creative Director of Études Studio:

We come from a multidisciplinary background in art, graphic design, photography, book publishing, and fashion. After working for ten years in various creative fields, we decided to bring all these practices together under a new project. We founded Études Studio in Paris in 2012 with the aim of being more than just a fashion brand. Études Studio has been part of Paris Fashion Week since 2014, bringing together art and fashion to represent a cultural lifestyle.

Études Studio stands at the intersection of Parisian tailoring and American workwear, representing a unique style that blends street references into elegant and refined silhouettes. Our signature pieces include relaxed denim pants, hoodies, our iconic bomber jacket, and our É signature cap, offering a unique look suitable for any urban landscape worldwide.

The main challenge for us is to bring the style of Études Studio outside of Paris. This involves not only our designs but also collaborating with local artists, designers, and musicians to replicate what we have done in Paris, creating a global and contemporary lifestyle. Our goal is to emphasize this sense of community wherever the brand is present.

Cross-border collaborations should be unexpected while retaining the brand’s DNA. We have collaborated with The New York Times, artists Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring, and sports brands like adidas, FILA, and Aigle. Each of these names has been a strong influence on us as young creatives. Having the chance to work around their art, logos, or iconic pieces, and bring our unique creative perspective, felt really special. We always consider art as our main source of inspiration, engaging in multiple dialogues around art and its disciplines to bring a unique touch to all our collaborations.

Our brand is distributed in more than 150 stores worldwide, including La Samaritaine and Galeries Lafayette on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, Galeries Lafayette in China, The Balancing boutique, and the fashion e-commerce platform SSENSE. In Paris, we have a flagship store and a shop-in-shop at Galeries Lafayette on Haussmann Boulevard.

In the Chinese market, we currently have three stores. In 2020, we opened our first shop-in-shop in Beijing, followed by our first standalone store in Shenzhen in June 2023, and another standalone store in Hangzhou in December 2023. This May, we will open our latest store in Shanghai. We plan to open 26 stores in the Chinese market over the next three years. These new stores will support Études Studio’s commercial development in the Asia-Pacific region.

From day one, the brand has practiced sustainable development. We integrate this concept into every choice of fabric, factory, and localized production. We have also collaborated with French brand Aigle for over three years, during which we learned a lot about sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and respect for the environment. With Études Studio, we aim to create a brighter future through art and fashion.”
