LVMH Group’s French luxury brand CELINE has appointed Matthieu Petri as General Manager for Greater China.

In his new role, Matthieu Petri will be responsible for enhancing the brand’s influence in the Greater China market and adapting the overall brand strategy to the specific characteristics of the Chinese market. This includes integrating innovative digital solutions, managing new e-commerce platforms, and adjusting product lines to cater to the unique preferences of Chinese consumers.

Before joining CELINE, Matthieu Petri served as Chief Commercial Officer at the French luxury brand Balmain, where he played a crucial role in the brand’s expansion, strengthening its presence in retail and wholesale channels while maintaining its elite and avant-garde image during his 3 years and 8 months tenure.

Matthieu Petri has also held positions such as Retail Director for Europe at Chaumet and Senior Vice President of Strategy for the U.S. market at LVMH Fashion Group, where he was involved in the transformation projects of brands like Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan/DKNY.

Additionally, Petri worked as a Project Leader at Boston Consulting Group, where he gained expertise in project management and strategic consulting in the luxury, beauty, and retail industries.

Coty

International beauty group Coty has appointed Mathieu Dufresne as General Manager for China.

Mathieu Dufresne joined Coty in 2006 and has held roles in key markets across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Before being appointed as Coty China General Manager, Mathieu served as General Manager for Coty France. With extensive experience in the beauty industry, he has developed expertise in growing diverse beauty categories such as fragrances, makeup, skincare, and body care in both mature and emerging markets. He has played a key role in building Coty’s broad brand portfolio and establishing strong relationships with licensing partners and fashion brands.

With nearly 20 years of leadership experience in the beauty industry and a global perspective, Mathieu has been instrumental in accelerating Coty’s growth and expansion in key beauty categories and major global markets.

The appointment of Mathieu Dufresne as General Manager of Coty China on the occasion of Coty’s 120th anniversary marks a strong commitment and expectation for further investment and expansion in the Chinese market.

Moving forward, Mathieu will lead Coty China, working closely with the Coty Asia-Pacific leadership team to accelerate the growth of high-end and mass beauty businesses in China, promote steady multi-category, multi-channel growth, and solidify Coty’s position as an international beauty group with balanced development across three major beauty categories. He will continue to lead in the fragrance business, seek further growth in the makeup category, and develop the skincare business based on Coty’s skincare technology and heritage.

Louis Vuitton

French luxury brand Louis Vuitton has appointed Gregory Borel as Vice President of the Southeast Region for the Americas.

In his new role, Gregory Borel will be responsible for overseeing operations, leading local teams, and implementing strategies to engage and strengthen connections with clients. Prior to this, he was in charge of Louis Vuitton’s flagship store on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Gregory Borel brings over 20 years of luxury retail experience, having previously gained valuable expertise at renowned brands like Givenchy and Christian Dior Couture.

Hong Kong Cheng Family

The private investment firm of Hong Kong billionaire Henry Cheng has appointed his third son, Christopher Cheng, as Co-CEO.

According to a statement released on August 30, Christopher Cheng will be responsible for investments in the North Asia region.

Christopher Cheng was appointed Executive Director of NWS Holdings Limited on December 1, 2020, and is a member of the company’s Executive Committee. He also serves as a director of several subsidiaries within the group. Christopher Cheng joined NWS in January 2019, primarily overseeing business development and strategic investments for the group.

Christopher Cheng is also a Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Limited and a Non-Executive Director of Giordano International Limited, a publicly listed company in Hong Kong (appointed on April 3, 2024). Before joining NWS, Christopher Cheng worked in the venture capital and hedge fund industry for many years, gaining extensive experience in global equity portfolio management, with a focus on mature markets in Asia. He managed contracts and execution trading services for various hedge funds and products and has significant experience in corporate finance. Christopher Cheng holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Harvard University.

At the same time, family relative Patrick Tsang has been appointed to oversee the Americas, Australia, and Europe.

Current NWS Executive Director and Group Co-CEO Gilbert Ho is responsible for corporate functions and operations.

J Lindeberg

Swedish sports fashion brand J.Lindeberg has appointed Alexander Diedrich as Head of E-commerce.

In his new role, Alexander Diedrich will be based in Stockholm, leading the brand’s digital growth and strengthening its e-commerce strategy.

With extensive experience in e-commerce within the global sports, leisure, and fashion sectors, Alexander Diedrich held executive positions at brands like Levi’s and Under Armour before joining J.Lindeberg.
