The Canadian sportswear brand lululemon announced Jonathan Cheung as the Global Creative Director, reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer Sun Choe.
In his new role, Jonathan Cheung will be responsible for leading the company’s global design team, playing a key role in formulating lululemon’s global creative strategy, with a focus on crafting a product design roadmap that reflects the brand’s “inspirationally creative vision.”
A graduate in Fashion from Kingston University, Jonathan Cheung brings 30 years of seasoned experience in creative and business leadership. He recently served as a consultant for brands like Gap, Merrell, and Pangaia, and was previously the Senior Vice President of Design and Design Innovation at Levi’s. Prior to joining Levi’s, his early career was spent at Franco Moschino and Giorgio Armani.
Jonathan Cheung is a cross-disciplinary design talent, collaborating with entities including electric vehicle manufacturers, fashion manufacturers Unspun, and 3D printed footwear startup Hilos.
Meanwhile, lululemon appointed JJ Collier as the newly established Vice President of Outerwear Design, reporting to Jonathan Cheung. He will lead the brand’s men’s and women’s outerwear teams. Similarly, he will drive customer-centric innovations across categories, including high-performance and leisure.
With over 20 years of experience, JJ Collier recently founded his own design consulting firm, Collier Brands. He has held senior design roles at companies like Salomon, Ralph Lauren, and Spyder Active Sports, and was the Senior Director of Apparel Innovation Concepts at the American outdoor apparel group VF, playing a key role in sustainable design practices across the group’s apparel brands.
