French luxury brand Chanel has announced that it will hold a show in Hangzhou, China, on December 3rd, showcasing the brand’s 2024/25 Métiers d’Art Collection.
The last time Chanel held this event in China was in 2009, when the then Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld led the brand’s Métiers d’Art show in Shanghai.
Last year, Chanel brought its Cruise collection show to the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, inviting French visual artist André to create the event’s invitations and visual art posters based on the Shenzhen cityscape. During the event, the brand also hosted various thematic forums and film screenings, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in the values that Chanel promotes. This was the brand’s first large-scale event in the Chinese Mainland since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Métiers d’Art Collection was first introduced in 2002, with a new collection released annually. It showcases the collaborative efforts of all of Chanel’s high-end workshops, including the Lemarié camellia and feather workshop, the Massaro shoe workshop, the Lesage embroidery workshop, the Michel hat workshop, and the Lognon pleating workshop.
The announcement of this show underscores Chanel’s increased investment in the Chinese market, marking the second show the brand will hold in China this year.
On May 13th, Chanel announced plans to hold the 2024/25 Cruise collection show in Hong Kong on November 5th.
