Personnel Updates | Canada Goose Appoints First Creative Director Haider Ackermann; L’Oréal Asia Pacific Travel Retail GM Changes; Executive Moves at Shanghai Jahwa, Tory Burch, and More

Canada Goose

Canada Goose announced the appointment of renowned designer Haider Ackermann as the brand’s first Creative Director.

In his new role, the Colombia-born French designer will be based in Paris, working with Canada Goose Chairman and CEO Dani Reiss to usher in a new chapter. “Haider is a leader in the fashion world, celebrated for his talent in defining contemporary design. He will bring his creativity to lead Canada Goose’s future product design, further elevating the brand’s aesthetic,” the brand’s press release stated.

Reiss added, “When it comes to blending craftsmanship and beauty, no one does it better than Haider Ackermann. He has a keen understanding of Canada Goose as a unique brand, valuing authenticity, craftsmanship, and performance. Haider’s distinctive ability to unlock the brand’s energy and potential is something I’m very excited to see in his new designs.”

Alongside the appointment, a limited-edition collection designed in support of Polar Bears International (PBI) was also announced. PBI is a leading organization in researching, understanding, and protecting polar bears and their diminishing habitats. Haider Ackermann and Dani Reiss visited Churchill, Manitoba, known as the “Polar Bear Capital of the World,” drawing inspiration from this trip for the collection. This collaboration reflects their shared belief that everyone has an inherent responsibility to protect the planet and can make a meaningful impact.

Haider Ackermann remarked, “What drew me to Canada Goose is not just their pioneering in a category of clothing but their genuine reputation and drive to achieve their goals. The brand has made a significant, inspiring impact on the world around us. As a novice in environmental protection, my trip to Churchill ignited a passion to do more and help more.”

L’Oréal Group

Beauty giant L’Oréal Group has appointed Jesus Abia as General Manager of Travel Retail Asia Pacific, succeeding Tao Zhang, effective July 1.

Jesus Abia has been with L’Oréal for 14 years, currently serving as General Manager for the European market of beauty lines from Prada, Valentino, Mugler, and Viktor & Rolf. He joined Lancôme’s Americas market travel retail team in 2012 and became Market Director for Giorgio Armani and other designer brands’ travel retail channels in 2016. In 2019, he was appointed General Manager for Yves Saint Laurent Beauty and Biotherm in Spain and Portugal.

Tao Zhang joined L’Oréal China in 2000 and later held executive positions at Lancôme and YSL Beauty in Paris. He joined L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific in 2016, initially as General Manager of Lancôme, then as General Manager of the Luxury Products Division, and was appointed General Manager of Travel Retail Asia Pacific in 2021.

Shanghai Jahwa

Shanghai Jahwa has appointed Lin Xiaohai as CEO and General Manager, succeeding Pan Qiusheng, who resigned for personal reasons, effective June 1, 2024.

The board of Shanghai Jahwa has also nominated Lin as a candidate for the eighth board of directors, pending approval at the shareholders’ meeting.

A graduate of South China University of Technology, Lin Xiaohai has 30 years of offline and online management experience in China’s fast-moving consumer goods industry. From 1995 to 2016, Lin held various management positions at Procter & Gamble, including in oral care, baby care, key account teams, channel management, e-commerce, and marketing. From 2014 to 2016, he served as President of Marketing for Procter & Gamble (China) Marketing Ltd. Lin later joined Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. as Vice President and General Manager of the Retail Business Division from 2016 to 2020, and then served as Executive Director and CEO of Sun Art Retail Group Ltd.

Tory Burch

American fashion brand Tory Burch has announced the appointment of Christophe de Pous as President of North America.

In his new role, Christophe de Pous will be based at the New York headquarters, overseeing retail, e-commerce, and wholesale operations for the North American market.

Before joining Tory Burch, Christophe de Pous was President of Global/International Markets at Clarins. He has extensive experience in driving the omnichannel influence and customer engagement of luxury fashion and beauty brands. Previously, he served as President and CEO of Gucci Americas Inc. and President and CEO of Gucci Japan.

Additionally, Tory Burch has appointed Beverly Morgan as Chief People Officer, responsible for developing and executing global strategies for recruitment, retention, and employee engagement. Morgan has over 20 years of experience in talent management within beauty, fashion, and retail, most recently serving as Chief People Officer at Benefit Cosmetics. She has also held management positions at Alexander Wang and Hugo Boss.

Emilia Fabricant has been appointed President, Chief Merchandising, and Global Supply Chain Officer. Emilia Fabricant joined Tory Burch in 2019, initially as Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer, expanding her responsibilities to Chief Supply Chain Officer in 2023.

The three newly appointed executives will report directly to the company’s CEO, Pierre-Yves Roussel.

Condé Nast

Pamela Drucker Mann, Condé Nast’s Global Chief Revenue Officer and President of International and U.S. Revenue, is stepping down.

Pamela Drucker Mann joined Condé Nast in 2005 as Sales Director for the now-defunct women’s monthly magazine “Jane”. She later served as Publisher of “Glamour” and “Bon Appetit” before being appointed Chief Marketing Officer of Condé Nast, and has served as Chief Revenue Officer since 2019.

Condé Nast stated that the search for her successor is underway, and Pamela Drucker Mann will remain in her role until summer.
