Personnel Updates | Nike Welcomes Back Retired Veteran as CEO; L’Occitane CEO Resigns; Hermès India’s General Manager Comes from L’Oréal

Nike

The American sports giant Nike has appointed Elliott Hill as CEO, effective October 14, joining the board of directors and executive committee.

Elliott Hill, returning from retirement, will succeed current President and CEO John Donahoe, who will step down on October 13 and serve as a group advisor until January 31, 2015, to ensure a smooth transition.

Elliott Hill retired in 2020 after working at Nike for 32 years, where his last position was President of Consumer and Marketplace, overseeing all commercial and marketing operations for the Nike and Jordan brands, including the profit and loss of the group’s four major markets. Prior to that, he held several senior leadership roles in Europe and North America, contributing to the company’s revenue growth to over $39 billion.

Elliott Hill holds degrees from Texas Christian University and Ohio University and currently serves on the board of Texas Christian University.

Hermès

French luxury brand Hermès has appointed Megha Malagatti as General Manager for the Indian market.

Hermès entered the Indian market in 2008 and opened its third boutique in the country this April.

Since June 2023, Megha Malagatti has served as Director of Business Development for Beauty Tech Tools at French beauty giant L’Oréal. Prior to that, she managed marketing for brands like Kiehl’s, Shu Uemura, and Urban Decay in the SAPMENA region (South Asia, Pacific, Middle East, and North Africa). She also oversaw travel retail for L’Oréal in India and the Indian subcontinent.

Before joining L’Oréal in 2020, Megha Malagatti worked at S.T. Dupont for seven years, managing the luxury retail division for France and the UK. She is also a member of the Comité Colbert and the network of French Foreign Trade Advisors. Megha Malagatti began her career in IT in Bangalore, India, and later moved to France in 2012 to pursue an MBA, which launched her career in the luxury industry.

L’Occitane Group

French skincare group L’Occitane International has announced the departure of board member and CEO Laurent Marteau, effective September 16.

The L’Occitane board has appointed an interim leadership team consisting of Chairman Reinold Geiger, CFO Samuel Antunes, and General Counsel Ingo Dauer, who will manage the company’s day-to-day operations.

Laurent Marteau joined L’Occitane in September 2022 and served as Executive Director and Managing Director before being named CEO on April 1 this year.

With over 20 years of experience in the global beauty industry, Laurent Marteau spent 15 years at LVMH before joining the La Prairie Group in 2014 as Vice President of Global Travel Retail and Special Channels, becoming a board member later that year. In 2020, his role expanded to include overseeing La Prairie’s operations in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa.

BFC – British Fashion Council

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced that its CEO of 16 years, Caroline Rush, will step down in June next year. The search for her successor has already begun.

Caroline Rush joined the BFC in 2009, leading the council through “significant transformation, providing a blueprint to support emerging global talent.” Under her leadership, two charitable organizations were established, which later merged into the BFC Foundation, providing millions of pounds in support to designers and their brands in recent years. She also spearheaded initiatives such as the creation and development of The Fashion Awards.
