PGA

The PGA of America has appointed Phil Anderson as Chief Operating Officer, effective April 20.

In his new role, Phil Anderson will be based at the PGA of America headquarters in Frisco, Texas, where he will be responsible for advancing the organization’s strategic priorities, improving operational effectiveness, and serving PGA members, reporting to Chief Executive Officer Terry Clark.

Going forward, Phil Anderson will work closely with Terry Clark, the executive leadership team, the Board of Directors, and the broader PGA organization to implement strategic plans, oversee enterprise-wide operations, enhance service programs, and support golf professionals across the association. He will also oversee the PGA REACH Foundation, the PGA’s 501(c)(3) charitable foundation.

Since 2022, Phil Anderson has served as General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Hazeltine National Golf Club, where he led capital projects, championship operations, and long-term planning initiatives.

A PGA golf professional with more than 20 years of industry experience, Phil Anderson has held multiple leadership roles within the PGA, including serving on the national Board of Directors and Governance Committee. He previously served as President of the Minnesota Section and has been recognized for his contributions to developing golf professionals and building high-performing teams. Earlier in his career, he held management roles at North Oaks Golf Club and Southview Country Club in Minnesota, overseeing strategic planning, capital improvements, and membership growth. He began his career in California as a golf professional.

New Balance

U.S. sportswear company New Balance has appointed Tracy Knauer as Senior Vice President for North America.

Tracy Knauer currently serves as Vice President of Marketing, E-commerce, and Consumer Insights for New Balance North America.

She joined the company in 2005 as Marketing Manager for Events, Wholesale, and Retail in North America. She has also held roles including Senior Director of North America Marketing, General Manager of North America Digital Wholesale, and General Manager of Global Accessories and Licensing.

Patagonia

U.S. outdoor brand Patagonia has appointed Amanda Calder-Mclaren as Senior Director of Marketing and Impact for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, a newly created role.

In her new position, Amanda Calder-Mclaren will integrate Patagonia’s marketing efforts with its impact initiatives, aligning brand storytelling with concrete action. She will work closely with global leadership, regional EMEA teams, and local communities to both communicate Patagonia’s values and drive environmental and social impact programs across the region.

Amanda Calder-Mclaren most recently served as Vice President of Global Brand Communications at Hugo Boss, and previously held the role of Chief Marketing Officer at Montirex. She has worked with multiple brands, having started her career in the sports and outdoor sector, collaborating with Adidas Terrex, Technogym, Wahoo Fitness, and The North Face.

During her time as Senior Brand Marketing Director for EMEA at The North Face, she led major brand campaigns and initiatives aimed at increasing outdoor participation. She is also a founding member and former Chair of Opening Up The Outdoors (OUTO), which focuses on removing systemic barriers to inclusion in outdoor spaces and the industry.

Canyon Bicycles

German bicycle manufacturer Canyon Bicycles has appointed Matthias Meier as Chief Executive Officer, effective May 1.

In his new role, Matthias Meier will take full responsibility for Canyon’s global operations, commercial execution, and sustainable growth, including strengthening its direct-to-consumer model and expanding its global network of service and experience partners.

Matthias Meier previously spent more than 12 years at bicycle components manufacturer DT Swiss, where he held roles including Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Vice President, and later Co-Chief Executive Officer. He led DT Swiss’s commercial expansion across six subsidiaries on four continents and spearheaded partnerships with Continental and Swiss Side, culminating in the launch of the AERO 111 wheel-tire system.

Roman Arnold will remain Executive Chairman, focusing on product innovation, brand positioning, and further development of the product portfolio.

Schwan-Stabilo Outdoor

Schwan-Stabilo Outdoor, the parent company of Deuter and Ortovox, has appointed Tom Mason as Interim General Manager of its U.S. business, effective immediately.

Tom Mason succeeds Jonathan Degenhardt. He will continue in his role as Ortovox Brand Manager, a position he has held since 2015, while overseeing Schwan-Stabilo Outdoor’s U.S. operations for the next six months, with an internal review of the role to be completed in October.

Tom Mason brings over 20 years of experience in the outdoor industry, spanning both retail and wholesale distribution.

In addition, Olivia Mayhew has been appointed Sales Manager for Deuter U.S., and April Sawyer has been named Finance Director for Schwan-Stabilo Outdoor U.S.

Ortovox has also appointed Manfred Meindl as Director of Marketing and Digital D2C.

In his new role, Manfred Meindl will oversee Ortovox’s direct-to-consumer marketing and digital operations.

Most recently, he served as Marketing Director at Vaude, where he spent over 15 years leading brand strategy and core marketing functions. Prior to that, he held roles including Head of Online Marketing and Director of International Marketing and Digital Services, focusing on digital infrastructure expansion, platform development, and international marketing operations.
