Balmain

French luxury brand Balmain has appointed Matteo Sgarbossa as its new CEO, effective May 6, succeeding the outgoing Jean-Jacques Guével.

Matteo Sgarbossa is currently the International Director and a member of the Executive Committee at another French luxury brand under LVMH, Givenchy. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving the further development of the Balmain brand in various global markets.

Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Chairman of the Balmain Board, noted that Matteo Sgarbossa’s extensive experience in fashion and luxury management makes him the ideal candidate to lead Balmain. “We believe his dynamism and global market knowledge will play a crucial role in the new phase of the brand, and his collaboration with Creative Director Olivier Rousteing will mark a new chapter of success in the brand’s history.”

Before joining Givenchy, Matteo Sgarbossa held positions as the International Retail Director at the Spanish fashion brand Mango and Vice President of Retail for Europe at Gucci.

Salomon

Franco Fogliato has resigned as President and CEO of the French sports brand Salomon for personal reasons.

James Zheng, CEO of Salomon’s parent company Amer Sports, will temporarily manage the Salomon brand and the functional outdoor division until a successor is appointed.

Franco Fogliato joined Salomon in November 2021. Prior to that, he served as the Global Omni-channel Executive Vice President at Columbia Sportswear, and had previously held positions as CEO of Billabong Europe, General Manager of VF Corporation for Western Europe, and Sales Manager at the outdoor brand The North Face.

The Honest Company

American healthy lifestyle company The Honest Company announced that its founder, Jessica Alba, has stepped down as Chief Creative Officer to “devote her creativity to new ventures.”

Going forward, Jessica Alba will continue to support and lead as a member of the company’s board of directors.

Carla Vernón, CEO of The Honest Company, stated: “During the process of re-envisioning the future of the company, Jessica Alba’s insights have been invaluable. As a true visionary, she founded The Honest with the desire to raise the standards for clean ingredients and sustainable design in baby and personal care products. On behalf of the management team, the board, and our employees, I am deeply grateful for her leadership over the years. We are thrilled that she will continue to serve as a board member and advisor, and we cheer her on as she embarks on new ventures.”

Jessica Alba commented, “Making this decision was not easy, but I know the leadership team will continue to advance my founding vision and protect the brand’s reputation as an industry changer. As I shift my focus to new projects, I look forward to continuing to contribute to the company’s success as a board member.”
