Personnel Updates | Nike Announces New Executive Team; New GM for adidas Basketball; Updates from Lowa, Mizuno, and Helen of Troy

Nike

Recently, American sportswear giant Nike announced a new executive leadership team:

  • Amy Montagne, formerly Vice President and General Manager of Nike Women’s business, has been promoted to President of the Nike Brand. She has been with the company for over 20 years and previously held roles at Gap, Mervyns, and Walmart.

  • Marketing executive Nicole Graham has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer, overseeing marketing for the Nike, Jordan, and Converse brands.

  • Longtime Nike executive Tom Clarke has been promoted to Chief Growth Officer.

  • Footwear executive Phil McCartney has been promoted to Chief Innovation, Design, and Product Officer.

In addition, Heidi O’Neill, current President of Consumer, Product and Brand at Nike, has announced her retirement. She will continue to support the company in an advisory role until September this year.

Heidi O’Neill joined Nike in 1998 and has overseen several key divisions, including Nike Direct.

adidas

German sportswear giant adidas has appointed Max Staiger as Global General Manager of Basketball, effective April 7, replacing Eric Wise.

Max Staiger most recently worked at another German sports brand, Puma, where he served for over 12 years. From 2021 to 2025, he held the role of Global General Manager of Basketball. Prior to that, from 2018 to 2021, he served as Global Head of Basketball and held roles in global brand and corporate strategy.

Helen of Troy Limited

Helen of Troy Limited, parent company of outdoor brands such as Hydro Flask and Osprey, has announced the immediate departure of CEO Noel Geoffroy.

Geoffroy previously served as Chief Operating Officer and assumed the CEO position in March 2024, succeeding Julien Mininberg.

Meanwhile, CFO Brian Grass has been appointed interim CEO, and Tracy Scheuerman, former Senior Vice President of Finance for the Home and Outdoor segment, has taken over as interim CFO.

The Board of Directors has engaged an executive search firm to identify a permanent CEO.

Lowa

Lowa, a hiking footwear manufacturer under Italian outdoor group Tecnica, has appointed Lance Taylor as General Manager of its U.S. operations, succeeding Peter Sachs.

Peter Sachs will remain with the company through Q3 to ensure a smooth transition. He launched Lowa’s U.S. business in 1996 and led the brand to achieve record revenue in the U.S. market last year.

In his new role, Lance Taylor will drive Lowa’s market strategy in the U.S. and lead the brand into a new phase of growth. Prior to joining Lowa, Taylor worked at French outdoor footwear brand Salomon for 17 years, most recently as National Outdoor Sales Manager. He brings 20 years of experience in the outdoor and high-performance product categories, including expertise in brand strategy, marketing, and retail development.

Mizuno

The U.S. division of Japanese heritage sports brand Mizuno has announced personnel changes in its running division:

  • Will Cutler has been promoted from Regional Manager to Associate Marketing Manager.

  • Nico Betancourt has joined the company as Regional Manager for the Chicago area.

  • Hope Nixon has been appointed as Running Brand Specialist for the Cincinnati market.

In his new role, Will Cutler will support the brand’s key initiatives and meet the needs of specialty retail partners from a marketing perspective.

Nico Betancourt is a seasoned industry professional with competitive running experience and leadership skills. He was most recently a store manager at Florida-based athletic footwear retailer Front Running Sports and previously served as a regional manager at Fleet Feet Sports in Orlando.

Hope Nixon will support the brand in enhancing its impact through events and in-store presence. She previously worked at the Columbus Running Company.
