The Italian luxury brand Tod’s introduced the debut collection by its new Creative Director, Matteo Tamburini. Appointed at the end of last year, Tamburini brings extensive experience from the European luxury sector, having worked at Rochas, Schiaparelli, and Emilio Pucci. Before joining Tod’s, he was responsible for the ready-to-wear collection at Bottega Veneta, part of the Kering group, from 2017 to 2023.

Other brands introducing collections by new creative directors include Moschino and Blumarine.

In January, Moschino appointed Adrian Appiolaza as the new Creative Director, overseeing the brand’s women’s, men’s, and accessories collections. Appiolaza has over a decade of industry experience. Before joining Moschino, he served as the Director of Women’s Ready-to-Wear at Loewe, working under Creative Director JW Anderson, and previously held a similar position at Chloé under former Creative Director Clare Waight Keller.

Blumarine’s new Creative Director, Walter Chiapponi, formerly of Tod’s, will unveil his first women’s collection for the brand on February 23rd at 10:30 AM Milan time.

Additionally, brands making their official Milan Fashion Week runway debut include Feben and Sagaboi, supported by Dolce&Gabbana, while Cosy Sunday, Jarelzhang, Khrisjoy, Maison Jejia, and Raisa Vanessa make their first appearance on the static presentation schedule. New collaborative projects showcased in the static presentations include Marina Rinaldi with Zuhair Murad, Max&Co with Richard Quinn, and Weekend Max Mara with Lucy Hale.

Beyond fashion presentations, the fashion week will feature a series of events, such as:

  • A press conference for the second “PREMIO MAESTRI D’ECCELLENZA” (Masters of Excellence Award) at 11 AM on February 20th, an initiative by LVMH, Loro Piana, the Italian Handicraft Union, and the Italian National Fashion Chamber, honoring Italy’s most talented artisans.
  • A press conference for the exhibition “Walter Albini. The talent, the designer” at the Prato Textile Museum (Museo del Tessuto di Prato) at 12:30 PM on February 20th, curated by Daniela Degl’Innocenti and Enrica Morini.

The Fashion Hub, supported by the Italian National Fashion Chamber, continues to provide opportunities for new brands and emerging designers to showcase, collaborate, and conduct business from Wednesday (February 21st) to Sunday (February 25th) at Piazza dei Mercanti, 2.

The chamber supports several projects within this space: Designers for the Planet (the eighth sustainable designer project), A Global Movement to Uplift Underrepresented Brands (the fourth multicultural fashion industry project), MFW Forward (focusing on young designers experimenting with research, innovation, culture, and trends), as well as educational talks and cross-cultural business discussions. Additionally, two projects involving the Cittadellarte Foundation and artist Michelangelo Pistoletto, Fashion for Planet Open Parliament, and the sustainable designer exhibition Fashion To Reconnect, will continue to participate in the fashion week activities.

Throughout the fashion week, discussions between designers at the Fashion Hub and buyers, showrooms, and retail will be held, featuring participants like ONTIMESHOW founder Gu Yeli, DADASHOW CEO Ye Qizheng, and curator HU BING.

Furthermore, to support emerging designers, the Italian National Fashion Chamber will announce the launch of the 2024 Italian National Fashion Chamber Fashion Fund to promote a new generation of independent brands made in Italy. This fashion week, the foundation will also support the brand Francesco Murano in a static presentation, in collaboration with Lineapelle, the Italian leather goods exhibition.
