Personnel Updates | Armani Group Establishes New Board of Directors; Fendi Chief Communications Officer Departs; Valentino Appoints Chief Merchandising Officer

Armani

Italian luxury group Giorgio Armani SpA has announced the establishment of a new Board of Directors in accordance with the wishes of Mr. Armani.

The new Board comprises eight members selected by the Armani Foundation and Mr. Armani’s designated heirs. The members include several prominent industry figures:

  • Group Chairman Pantaleo Dell’Orco (nicknamed Leo)

  • Silvana Armani, Vice President and daughter of Mr. Armani’s late brother Sergio

  • Andrea Camerana, Mr. Armani’s nephew and son of his sister Rosanna Armani

  • Giuseppe Marsocci, Group CEO and Managing Director

  • Marco Bizzarri

  • John Hooks

  • Federico Marchetti

  • Angelo Moratti

Pantaleo Dell’Orco and Giuseppe Marsocci’s current roles have been formally confirmed. Marco Bizzarri, John Hooks, Federico Marchetti, and Angelo Moratti do not hold any executive responsibilities within the company.

Pantaleo Dell’Orco stated: “The Group’s new Board of Directors includes family members, the CEO, and other core figures who have long collaborated with Mr. Armani, alongside independent professionals with recognized expertise and extensive experience. This structure offers the best assurance for carrying forward, deepening, and innovating upon Mr. Armani’s aesthetic vision, business model, and ethical values built over the past 50 years, while enabling us to respond effectively to market challenges and opportunities.”

The Group emphasized in a statement that the new Board “will strictly adhere to the founding principles established by Mr. Armani, which are fully safeguarded by the Armani Foundation. Regardless of any future shareholder changes or potential IPOs, the Foundation will retain no less than a 30% stake in the company.”

Current members of the Armani Foundation include: Pantaleo Dell’Orco, Andrea Camerana, Rothschild banker Irving Bellotti, notary Elena Terrenghi, and attorney Andrea Silvestri.

Federico Marchetti became the first non-family member to join the Armani Group Board in 2020 and was reappointed for another three-year term in 2022. He is the founder of luxury e-commerce platform Yoox, and led its merger with peer Net-a-Porter, subsequently serving as CEO of the YNAP Group. In 2021, Marchetti stepped down from YNAP and was later appointed Chair of the Fashion Task Force under the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI)—an initiative launched by then Prince of Wales (now King Charles III) at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2020. The Armani Group is a member of this task force.

John Hooks joined the Armani Group in 2000 and, after 11 years, stepped down from his roles as Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President in 2011. He later joined Ralph Lauren Corp. as President of Europe. Hooks played a key role in the global expansion of Armani, including the opening of the first Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani stores in India in 2008, the launch of the world’s largest Giorgio Armani flagship on Via Montenapoleone in Milan, and the opening of the first Emporio Armani flagship in Moscow.

Marco Bizzarri joined French luxury conglomerate Kering in 2005 and became President and CEO of Gucci in 2015, leading the brand through a period of rapid growth. After leaving Gucci in 2023, he established his own investment firm, Nessifashion.

Fendi

Italian luxury brand Fendi has announced the departure of Chief Communications Officer Cristiana Monfardini.

Cristiana Monfardini has worked at Fendi for over 20 years. Her career began in 1994 when she joined Gianni Versace, and she later held roles at Dolce & Gabbana, Escada, and Moschino. She joined Fendi in 2004, where she has been part of the communications department ever since.

During her tenure at Fendi, she led communications for several major brand events, including the 2007 fashion show on the Great Wall of China and the 2016 90th-anniversary show at the Trevi Fountain. She also built a wide-reaching ambassador network for the brand and developed the millennial-focused co-creation platform “F is For.”

Valentino

Italian luxury brand Valentino has appointed Davide Tosi as Chief Merchandising Officer.

In his new role, Davide Tosi will lead the brand’s global merchandising and pricing strategy. Prior to this, he served as Merchandising Director for Ready-to-Wear at Gucci, and has held roles at Prada, Maison Margiela, and Moncler.
