Swiss luxury group Richemont is preparing to expand the presence of its Italian contemporary high jewelry brand Vhernier into the Asian market.
A spokesperson for Hongkong & Shanghai Hotels Ltd. confirmed that Vhernier’s first boutique in Asia will open later this year at The Peninsula Hong Kong, a property under the group. According to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, the boutique is scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter.
Richemont declined to comment on the news.
Vhernier was co-founded in 1984 by Angela Camurati in Valenza, Italy’s renowned jewelry-making hub. Headquartered in Milan, the brand hails from one of the most important gold and jewelry manufacturing regions in both Italy and the world, known for its handcrafted creations.
Vhernier is celebrated for its unique combination of traditional precious metals, bold colored gemstones, and pavé-set diamonds with unconventional materials such as titanium, bronze, and ebony. All pieces are handcrafted in Valenza using traditional Italian techniques. The brand currently operates 16 standalone boutiques in major cities, including Milan, Rome, Geneva, Paris, New York, Miami, Beverly Hills, and Dubai, and also retails through a global network of multi-brand stores. A boutique in Kuwait is also in the pipeline.
In 2024, Vhernier was acquired by Richemont, becoming the fourth house in the group’s high jewelry division, alongside Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Buccellati.
The arrival of high-end international brands is expected to help revitalize Hong Kong’s struggling retail sector. According to JLL, vacancy rates in Hong Kong’s prime shopping centers reached a record high of 10.5% in the first half of this year, and rents are projected to decline by over 10% in 2025.
