Anta Sports Released First Half Data: Anta, DESCENTE, and KOLON SPORT Accelerate Growth

After the market closed on July 8, Chinese sports giant Anta Group (02020.HK) released its latest operational performance for the second quarter and the first half of 2024. The announcement disclosed data related to the Group’s core brands Anta, FILA, and other brands (including DESCENTE and KOLON SPORT), excluding the business of Amer Sports (the parent company of brands such as Arc’teryx, Salomon, and Wilson).

Second Quarter of 2024:

  • Anta brand retail sales recorded high single-digit growth year-on-year;
  • FILA brand retail sales recorded mid-single-digit growth year-on-year;
  • All other brands recorded 40-45% growth year-on-year.

First Half of 2024:

  • Anta brand retail sales recorded mid-single-digit growth year-on-year;
  • FILA brand retail sales recorded high single-digit growth year-on-year;
  • All other brands recorded 35-40% growth year-on-year.

Upon comparing the data from the first and second quarters, Luxeplace.com observed that the main brand Anta, along with DESCENTE and KOLON SPORT, achieved accelerated growth in the second quarter.

As of July 9, Anta Group’s stock price fell by 2.31% to HKD 69.7 per share, with a total market value of HKD 197.4 billion.

Key Events for Anta Group and Its Brands in the First Quarter

Anta Group:

  • In May, Anta Group and Dow held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony at Anta’s 982 Center headquarters, discussing further collaboration in new products, new materials, and sustainable development.
  • In June, Anta Group, together with Tsinghua University, held the final and award ceremony of the second “Global Sports Equipment Innovation Design Competition” in Xiamen, and simultaneously launched research on trends in China’s fashion sports industry.

Anta Brand:

  • In April, Anta’s first sustainable concept store, the Anta Zero Carbon Mission Store, opened on Wukang Road, Shanghai. It is the first carbon-neutral store in the Chinese shoe and apparel industry certified by an authoritative organization, committed to achieving carbon reduction from product manufacturing to terminal operations.
  • In June, Anta launched the new midsole technology platform PG7, featuring a new shock-absorbing thermoplastic elastomer material jointly developed with the Anta x Sinopec Footwear Material Innovation Laboratory, and released two new running shoes with PG7 midsole technology: Anta-Travel Step and Anta-Travel.

FILA Brand:

  • In April, FILA announced that Chinese national golf team coach Liang Wenchong became the brand ambassador for FILA GOLF, and Asian Games men’s champion Xu Longyi became the brand image spokesperson for FILA GOLF.
  • In May, FILA hosted a grand show for the FILA x Pompidou Center collaboration series in its official live broadcast room, showcasing FILA art prints with unique craftsmanship and preserving the legendary art of the Pompidou Center.
  • In June, FILA opened its first global flagship store, FILA ATELIER, in Chengdu Taikoo Li.

DESCENTE Brand:

  • In April, DESCENTE launched the AWAKEN Breakthrough Series, co-developed with professional triathletes, including running and cycling series made from recycled materials, and released advertising campaigns featuring brand ambassadors William Chan and triathlon ambassador Bas (Li Pengcheng).
  • In May, DESCENTE opened a city flagship store in Tianjin MixC, covering an area of over 800 square meters, offering limited edition and exclusive Tianjin products, with a mini museum, city element wall, and VIP lounge area.

  • In April, KOLON SPORT announced the signing of its first Chinese athlete, former national women’s middle and long-distance running team member Jin Yuan.
  • In June, KOLON SPORT held the June “Kolon Road Camp Laboratory” community event in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Wuhan, exploring the endless fun of the outdoors.
  • In June, KOLON SPORT opened the MOVE ALPHA “Natural Momentum” pop-up exhibition at its Beijing Sanlitun Taikoo Li store, showcasing MOVE ALPHA hiking shoes equipped with GORE-TEX technology for experience.
