Anta Sports Q3 Report: Descente and Kolon Drive Accelerated Growth in Other Brands Division

On October 10, after the market closed, Chinese sports giant Anta Group (02020.HK) released its latest operational performance for the third quarter of 2024. The announcement included data from the group’s core brands—Anta, FILA, and other brands (including DESCENTE and KOLON SPORT)—but did not cover the operations of Amer Sports (parent company of brands like Arc’teryx, Salomon, and Wilson).

Q3 2024 Highlights:

  • Anta: Retail sales recorded mid-single-digit positive growth year-on-year.
  • FILA: Retail sales saw low-single-digit negative growth year-on-year.
  • Other brands: Retail sales grew 45-50% year-on-year, accelerating from the first two quarters of the year.

Major Events for Anta Group and Its Brands in Q3

Anta Group:

  • In August, Anta Group partnered with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to launch a new three-year global strategic cooperation plan, supporting the Asian Elephant National Park project in Xishuangbanna.
  • In September, Anta Group signed a cooperation agreement with Xiamen’s Wuyuan Sports Park, planning to invest RMB 4 billion in the creation of Xiamen Anta Sports Park—a hub combining operations, innovation, and sports culture experiences.
  • Anta Group also formed a strategic partnership with the Jiangsu Sports Bureau in September to provide athletic gear for Jiangsu athletes.

Anta Brand:

  • DESCENTE also launched a two-story flagship store in Chengdu’s MixC Mall in September.

KOLON SPORT:

  • In July, KOLON SPORT’s “Luying Lab” released a series of curated community events, including activities such as hiking and picnics in Beijing and outdoor adventures in Chengdu, Shanghai, and Wuhan.
  • In September, KOLON SPORT hosted the “Natural Camping Festival” pop-up in Shanghai’s Xintiandi.
  • Actor Hu Ge was named the brand ambassador for KOLON SPORT in September.
