Prior to joining Arc’teryx, he spent over four years at casual footwear brand Crocs, where he most recently served as Senior Director of Global Marketing. He originally joined Crocs in May 2021 as Senior Director of Wholesale Sales Strategy for North America. Before that, he spent 20 years at Nike, where his final position was Senior Director of Sales/Marketing for Global Apparel. Previously, he served as General Manager of Apparel for Nike UK and Ireland, and held other leadership roles in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, and South Africa.

In August, Salomon’s parent company, Finnish sports group Amer Sports, reported a 23% year-on-year increase in second-quarter sales to USD 1.236 billion, and subsequently raised its full-year profit forecast. The report noted that Salomon’s footwear business continues to experience accelerated growth. In the second quarter, the brand added 16 new stores in the Chinese Mainland, bringing its total store count in the region to 234. Canyon

Roman Arnold, founder of German cycling brand Canyon, will return to an operational role at the company starting September 1. Former CEO Nicolas De Ros Wallace will step down. According to the company, Nicolas De Ros Wallace is leaving “by mutual agreement,” and Roman Arnold will transition from Chairman of the Advisory Board to Executive Chairman.

In a press release issued Thursday, the company stated:
“Roman Arnold will focus on the company’s long-term vision and future strategy. He will act as a bridge between Canyon’s legacy of innovation and performance and its future growth, ensuring that the company continues to uphold its founding values while jointly advancing strategic plans with Canyon’s executive leadership team.”

Although Roman Arnold will not hold the CEO title, a Canyon spokesperson confirmed that he will “assume the functions and responsibilities of Executive Chairman previously held by Nicolas De Ros Wallace.” The spokesperson added, “There are currently no plans to appoint a new CEO. Canyon will be managed and operated by Executive Chairman Roman Arnold and a strong global executive leadership team.

Roman Arnold founded Canyon in 1996. In 2020, he sold a majority stake in the company to investment firm GBL, while retaining approximately 40% ownership. Before the sale, he stepped down as CEO and assumed the newly created role of Chairman of the Advisory Board.

Nicolas De Ros Wallace, a former Vice President at Nike, joined Canyon in 2022. According to the company’s press release, during his three and a half years as CEO, annual sales doubled to nearly EUR 800 million.

GBL recently reported that in the first half of 2025, Canyon’s sales declined 5% year-on-year, EBITDA fell 30%, and the company posted a net loss of EUR 5 million, compared to a EUR 400,000 loss in the same period last year. Due to declining profitability, GBL’s stake in Canyon was devalued by several hundred million euros as of the end of 2024.
